Message from the President
Greetings!
I hope that all of you who are on vacation in the summer are having a relaxing break. To those of you who don’t have summers off, “Hang in there!” and I hope you can take a short break soon.
Here at the ALI—CSULB, our TEFL Training Program is underway, and I’m proud to say that all trainees have become members of CATESOL! What a great start to their careers, whether abroad or in the U.S.!
The acceptances for the 2013 CATESOL Annual Conference, which will take place at the Town and Country Resort in San Diego on October 24-27 to those with accepted proposals. If you will not present in San Diego, please try again at a regional conference or for the 2014 CATESOL Annual Conference. I can’t emphasize enough how hard the 2013 CATESOL committee members are working to ensure that you have a rewarding experience at the conference. Please keep checking the website (http://catesol.org/ annualconference) for the registration deadlines. For those of you who are able to afford it, it would be wonderful if you were able to sponsor a student’s registration fee as her/his “mentor.” Please contact me for ideas. We are ALL trying to get used to having our Annual Conference in the Fall, so please spread the word to your colleagues!
Are you one of those who say, “I’ve never won anything.”? Well, instead of winning something through luck, you may be eligible to win a Conference Award through your career. Please check the conference website for information on the awards (right-hand column). A CATESOL award will be an exciting addition to your professional development.
The CATESOL Foundation (http://catesolfoundation.org) board members are working hard behind the scenes to plan a fun fundraising event for the 2013 Annual Conference. How FUN was that raffle at CATESOL 2013 in Oakland at the Saturday night event! I won one of the last prizes awarded! The Foundation is always happy to accept YOUR (tax-deductible!) contributions in order to fund educational opportunities and to advance CATESOL’s educational goals.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions. (president@catesol.org)
