MODERN INSTITUTE IN THE CITY CENTER

You will find our German language school in the immediate vicinity of the baroque Karl's Church, next to the Musikverein building where the world-famous New Year's Day Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic is broadcast all over the world. In the neighbourhood there is the most beautiful Hotel of Vienna - the Hotel Imperial - where kings, presidents, and even pop stars like Madonna stay. A few steps away is the most splendid street in Vienna - the Vienna Ringstrasse.

In our brightly furnished modern rooms, you are able to learn German in a pleasant atmosphere. Also, after your course lessons, you have the possibility to improve your language in our Computer lab and our mediotheque.

OUR METHOD

You speak German from the very beginning. We want you to be able to speak, read, understand and write German as quickly as possible - anything which is important to you. The teachers of Alpha Language School understand various teaching methods which are used to ensure your utmost success.

We use the same textbooks like the Goethe Institute in Germany, with additional material for special groups and other added material. You may buy books in our bookshop.

During a German course lesson there are a large variety of work patterns: group work, role-playing, discussions, interviews - you are always participating actively. In each group are on an average 9 participants from different nationalities, a particularly successful dynamic level begins to develop. Like the Goethe Institute in Germany, we have much experience in working with groups of this size in which particular learning phases are managed successfully.

DIRECTOR OF STUDIES

Mag.a Ziehr, Director of studies Mag.a Ziehr holds a degree in German Linguistics and Education (Universität Berlin, Universität Wien). Her thesis work on a model orphanage program (S.O.S Kinderdörfer) in Tibet led to a long stay in the Indian Himalayas.

Ms. Ziehr is always on the look out for new challenges; her experience ranges from teaching the current U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki Moon his first German courses here in Vienna to instructing illiterate refugees in German. She has been a member of the Alpha Team for over 10 years, becoming Director of studies in 2006. Her courses currently focus on German pronunciation, conversation, culture of Austria and business. Additionally, she is one of the many ÖSD examiners at Alpha. Whenever you have specific wishes or concerns about your German study program here in Vienna, Ms. Ziehr will go out of her way to accommodate you.

OUR TEACHERS

Our teachers are native speakers who speak standard German and who have finished their university education. They offer a great deal of German teaching experience and an understanding of various teaching methods which they can use according to the students' needs. Continued training is, of course, the personal responsibility of our German trainers. They are specialists in teaching German as a foreign language.

Many of our teachers speak several languages, and they also have teaching experience in other countries. Therefore they understand how it is for you to learn German. Our instructors not only teach German, but they are also advisors who can give you study tips for your time after the German course. It is a great advantage for us to offer personal counselling to our German course participants. We are conducting the exams of the Goethe Institute, therefore many of our teachers are educated and experienced examiners, who prepare you in the best way for these German exams.
