ÖSD OBERSTUFE - (Advanced)

The OSD Oberstufe is a basic requirement for the entry to Austrian universities.

The candidate is supposed to be able to communicate on more specific subjects beyond the everyday situations. Not only linguistic but also pragmatical and intercultural knowledge is expected. Candidates at this level are aware of regional variations of standard German, functional use, application of registers, colloquial German and idioms.

Format of examination:
- listening comprehension: four parts, listening for gist and detail and selective listening
- reading comprehension: three parts, reading for gist and detail and selective reading
- written expression: two letters (formal or/and informal)
- oral examination : three parts

Duration of the examination:
- written examination: appr. 3 hours and 45 minutes
- oral examination: appr. 15 minutes + 15 minutes preparation time

Time:
- written examination: on the first day, starting at 1.30 p.m.
- oral examination: on the second day, exact information you will get on the first day of examination

Prerequisite: approx. 1200 units of instruction

Level:
The Oberstufe follows level C1 / effective-proficiency of the Common European framework.

A prerequisite for admission to an ÖSD-exam is an accurate preparation
